JVW 5th Anniversary

Welcome Savon du Jardin to the Juniata Valley Winery's 5th Anniversary Event!       Soap...it is an integral part of our lives. For Deb Beisel, her interest was piqued when her husband, an elementary school teacher, was teaching his class about soap making.  Deb began making soap and soon found a way to combine her new hobby with her love of the outdoors and gardening.  Interested in developing natural soaps that are luxurious without synthetic ingredients, Deb has developed a passion for researching and creating new products. The fun and  joy she experiences in transforming raw material into beautiful products has also led her to add lotions and other bath products to her inventory. Her company’s name, “Savon du Jardin” is a tribute to her French mother and grandmother and a nod to her love of gardening, which they also shared.  Deb is an active member of the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild and has also attended the Pittsburgh Soapmaker...

Sapp's Rustic Collections     We would like to welcome  Sapp’s Rustic Collections,  another first timer to our Anniversary event. Located in Leesport, PA, Sapp’s features hand crafted artwork.  This husband and wife team have a passion for art that allows them to see the beauty in the imperfections.  This philosophy is displayed in their use of repurposed and refurbished pallets and reclaimed wood in their designs.  They create wall art, holiday decor, furniture and decorative items as well as custom designs.  Like many artists, they feel most rewarded when a customer falls in love with one of their pieces. Reminisce   12:30pm-3:30pm Aug 12th at The Juniata Valley Winery Step back in time when Reminisce takes the stage! Based in the Harrisburg area, the band is made up of eight members with decades of experience among them. Featuring songs primarily  from the fifties and sixties, the band’s vocal harmonies will have you tapping your foot and singing along!  Their song list (which can be found on their website http://reminisceoldies.com/ ) includes classics such as  In the Still of the Night ,  Mustang Sally,  and  Run Around Sue,  as well as patriotic favorites like  America, the Beautiful  and  God Bless the USA.  So put on your  Boogie Shoes  and  Come Go With Me ...not to the hop, but to the Juniata Valley Winery to Reminisce from  12:30-3:30 pm  on  Saturday, August 12!

Of course, “man’s best friend” should be represented by a vendor at our Anniversary event and so we look forward to having  Abby’s Doggone Good Gourmet Cookies  join us! Created in 1993 and inspired by the need for a preservative and filler free dog treat, the gourmet cookies were named after Abby, a special canine friend. The company began in Nuangola, PA and in 2012 Abby’s moved to Dalmatia, PA.  In spite of the move and change in their look, all of their original recipes remain the same and Abby’s continues to only use wholesome quality ingredients from the USA. Tussey Mountain Moonshiners We’re excited to introduce the headline band for our Anniversary event: 2010 DelFest Bluegrass Band Competition winners, The Tussey Mountain Moonshiners!  Hailing from State College, this talented group of musicians blends tradition and originality to bring their own flavor to the bluegrass and Americana they perform.  The Moonshiners bring a dynamic chemistry to the stage and thrive on connecting and sharing that energy with their audience.  Check out their website   http:// tusseymountainmoonshiners.com/  to “meet” the band and to explore their music.  Most importantly, mark your calendar so you don’t miss seeing them at the Juniata Valley Winery on  August 12 , where they take the stage from  7-10 pm !!

       Meet Norma Dively, a.k.a. Crafty Nana As a new grandmother and avid hobbyist, Norma Dively adopted the nickname of the Crafty Nana. Although her basement was already being overtaken by her hobbies, in 2009,  Norma’s curiosity led to her to go check out a gourd festival at a local church. Intrigued by what she found, Norma was soon hooked on gourd crafts. She joined the Pennsylvania Gourd Society and the rest is history! Combining her interests in birding and gourd projects, the Crafty Nana focuses on making birdhouses and employing new techniques she’s learned through her PAGS membership.  She describes the majority of her birdhouses as utilitarian, but sometimes she is inspired to make a more creative design, such as a goose, duck or swan.   Please join us at the JVW Anniversary celebration on August 12 to meet the Crafty Nana and see her spectacular gourd creations!

One Shilling Ring Artifacts N Relics joining The Juniata Valley Winery Anniversary Event on Aug 12 Meet the artist: Artifacts N Relics We look forward to welcoming central Pennsylvania based Artifacts N Relics to our Anniversary event.  Owner and artist Mike is a former student of graphic design at Berks Technical Institute and believes that art can  provide a small escape from the real world and can make us smile, even if just for a minute.  Mike embraced his artistic side as a child and by fine-tuning his techniques and continuing to always learn new skills, he has been able to  turn his passion into a career.  His art is inspired by his raw materials: vintage and forgotten items such as coins, watch parts, ink pen nibs, and even bullet casings. He breathes new life into these often cast aside bits and pieces by turning them into one of a kind  jewelry and accoutrements.
